About Me

Getting to know your doula and being able to feel comfortable around her is an important part of this particular relationship. I’m sure you’d like to know a little more about me before you decide to schedule a consultation!

I live in Freeport, NY and I am a mom to two amazing boys, ages 11 and 9 and a brand new baby girl born 9/29/08. My boys think it's the coolest thing that I "help moms have babies" and they tell people this all of the time. It's very funny.
I received my labor doula training through DONA International. DONA is the oldest, largest and most respected doula association in the world. For more info visit www.dona.org
I am also currently studying and training to be a childbirth educator through Birth Arts International.
I have experience in medicated and unmedicated births, obstetrician and midwife attended births, vaginal births and c-sections, and sucessful VBACs ( vaginal birth after cesaerean). Pregnancy and childbirth have been passions of mine since my very first pregnancy, and now it's a borderline obsession!! I am proud to be offering all of Nassau County, and parts of Suffolk County, New York City, and Queens my doula services.

What I strive for as a doula:

First, to make sure that families have all of the information and support that they need to make decisions. The information I give is evidence based NOT fear based
Second, to provide physical and emotional support: massage, position change, encouragement and anything else a laboring mom needs to help labor progress smoothly.
Third, to help dad (or birth partner) in his/her support of the laboring mother.
Finally, to "hold the space" around the birthing family so they feel confident and comfortable and help them have the birth experience they truly want.

Every pregnant family deserves to have a doula ~ the person whose only concern is the satisfaction of the laboring mom and her partner.
